Tavira

The former capital of Algarve, and undoubtedly one of the most beautiful towns in the region. The beach is only accessible by ferry, which is the reason that Tavira has mostly been able to maintain its authenticity, despite the fact that it is a coastal town. No high-rises, no resorts, only pleasant little streets, old houses with the typical “quatro aguas” roofs, the many churches and nice restaurants, as well as the famous Roman bridge over the Gilao river. Tavira is an excellent place to wander and explore, for having a nice cup of coffee on a terrace and simply observe life.
